halloween date!

"H-A-DOUBLE L-O-W-DOUBLE E-N spells Halloween!" Did you ever sing that song in school? I love it!

Sean and I had our Halloween date night Saturday and had a monster BLAST! We went to dinner at J. Alexander's and sat at the bar, ate calamari and steaks, had a bunch of red wine and got everything for free! Love the perks of Sean's job! ;)

Then we headed to an art show that was Halloween themed. It was amazing! So many gory and scary pieces! Lots of free wine too...haha. But the most exciting part of the night was Sean and I buying our first piece of art together! She was one of the last pieces we saw at the show and we just had to have her. We went mad trying to find the gallery owner to place a bid on her but he wasn't even at the show yet. But alas he finally arrived and we bought her! Isn't she beautiful? I was thinking of naming her Claudette...

Oooooo, he looks so scary and serious! We ended the night renting Scream 4 back at home, it was pretty good, I did scream a few times. :)  Happy Halloween!

the met's patterns + long sleeves

Here are my four favorite looks from the Met Ball. Patterns, patterns, patterns! I think wearing a patterned dress is very risky but these ladies pulled it off perfectly. I have always loved a formal dress that has a different look to it. Emma Stone's floral Lanvin dress kind of reminds me of the dress I wore to my 6th grade dance....of course I wasn't as glamorous as she looks here, with those amazing blue earrings and perfect pink lips.

And how can you not love Michelle William's Miu Miu birds with her pixie blond hair. Sophisticated and adorable!

I have really liked all of the long sleeved dresses that the Hollywood ladies have been wearing. Diane Kruger looks very L.A. noir in her Jason Wu ensemble. I read that her hand embroidered top took 500 hours to make! 

It is no surprise that Renee Zellweger's Carolina Herrera dress is my absolute favorite of the night. The train, the sleeves, the open back, the color, the sparkle! What a perfect dress.

I love art and anytime I find a piece I like I always wonder where would it go in our home. These original prints from Cake with Giants (love that name!) are absolutely perfect for a baby's room! Not that I am in a hurry to have kids anytime soon, believe me!  I think these would add a unique flavor to a child's room that they could grow up with and keep for themselves. I just love the pink set the table one...that is definitely going to be for a future little Theta. ; )

The artist also has a blog that I like to look at everyday because her photos are so calming and beautiful, great to look at during a break from work! Did I mention she is from Australia?
